How do I join? First, please send an email to [email protected] and let us know you are interested in joining. You will need to fill out a membership form (now available to fill out online) and meet a board member to join. Can I join this group chapter if I work? That depends. Our activities are held during the day and during the week, so our schedule isn't usually conducive to working mothers. However, if you work from home or work in the school system (with summers off), then our schedule might work for you (for at least part of the year). It's up to you to decide if we are the right fit, but in general, we are here to support at-home mothers throughout the year.
Is childcare provided at activities? No. Each mother is responsible for her own child(ren) at all activities. We ask that each mother monitor their child's behavior. We also ask that if your child(ren) is sick, you keep them home from activities until they are healthy again.
What ages of children are welcome in this group? Any age! We are here to support at-home moms, and we are open to children of all ages! Since our activities are held during the week & during the day, we don't have many school-aged children at our activities (unless it's summer-time or a school holiday), but any age child is welcome!
What are the boundaries of this group? We restrict membership to include zip codes of 20120, 20151, 20152. It also includes part of Aldie (20105) – Stone Ridge area, Kirkpatrick Farms neighborhood, Lenah Mills neighborhood, and Willowsford neighborhood. The purpose of this is to ensure that no one has to drive too far for activities.
Are there attendance requirements? No. We usually plan three activities per week, and you are welcome to join us as often as you would like, but don't feel obligated to come to each activity if it doesn't work for you.
What do you do at the monthly meetings? Each month is a little bit different. We usually have a few announcements or "business" to talk about, and then we have an activity such as a speaker or focused discussion. Past topics have included finances, cleaning, baby sign language, and meal planning.
